Dit jaar is het 200 jaar geleden dat Mansfield Park werd gepubliceerd. De BBC gaat dit op een hele fijne manier vieren, namelijk door een hoorspel uit 2003 uit te zenden.
In dit programma spelen een aantal (inmiddels) grote namen mee, onder andere Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Parade’s End) als Edmund Bertram, David Tennant (Dr. Who, Harry Potter) als Tom Bertram en Felicity Jones (Northanger Abbey, The Amazing Spider-Man 2) als Fanny Price.
Het hoorspel bestaat uit 10 delen, het eerste wordt uitgezonden op maandag 12 mei om 15.00 uur (Nederlandse tijd) tot 15.15 uur op BBC 4 Radio Extra. Je kunt via deze link live (en legaal en gratis) meeluisteren.

It is 200 years since the original publication of Jane Austen’s much beloved novel, and who better to lead us through a bicentennial celebration than a stellar cast of well-regarded acting talent in this treat from the archive.
This all-star adaptation boasts David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek II, Cabin Pressure, Sherlock) among the cast. Benedict Cumberbatch is soon to be seen as Richard III on BBC television, and Mansfield Park was one of his earliest radio appearances. Joining them is Felicity Jones, known to Archers fans as the original Emma Carter and soon to be seen as Felicia Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Also in the cast are Tim Piggott-Smith (The Bletchley Circle, Wodehouse in Exile) and Julia McKenzie (Miss Marple).
Austen’s classic tale centres on young Fanny Price, sent to Mansfield Park in hard times, trying to be the equal of her new compatriots.
